With summer just around the corner (we promise!) isn’t it about time you started making plans to head to London to enjoy some of the unmissable events taking place in the capital this year?

London is an incredible city to spend a few days at any time of the year, but as the weather improves, the capital comes to life and welcomes an array of fantastic events to suit any taste and interest.

London Tech Week, 8th – 12th June 2020

A week-long festival celebrating technology and innovation, London Tech Week returns for 2020 in what promises to be the biggest and best event yet.

An annual event to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday on the 13th June 2020, this traditional ceremony features a colourful collection of musicians, officers on horseback and ceremonial uniforms. It is an unmissable event, brimming with traditional pageantry, suitable for the whole family.

You can even catch a rare glimpse of the Queen herself as she inspects her troops and waves to the crowds from her escorted carriage as it travels from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to the Horse Guards Parade.

Featuring hundreds of members of the household division, this special event also includes a flypast from the Royal Airforce at around 1 pm, so be sure to stake out your position on the Mall early as the event is very popular with visitors and locals alike.

Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, 19th June – 4th July 2020

With an extensive programme of events planned for the Greenwich + Docklands International Festival 2020, get ready to immerse yourself in the arts with one of the UK’s largest outdoor events of its kind.

Featuring outdoor theatre performances, dance acts, live music and plenty of art installations to enjoy, performers from around the globe will be descending on London for this special annual event.

West End LIVE at Trafalgar Square, 20th – 21st June 2020

The West End comes to Trafalgar Square for a special two-day event this June.

Enjoy toe-tapping choruses and special, free outdoor performances by the stars of the West End. This two day event is sure to have you dancing in the streets with the cast of musicals such as Mama Mia! Wicked and The Lion King dropping by to entertain the crowds.

This event has been running for several years now and is popular with visitors to the city, so if you want a good view of the stage or huge screens that are put in place for the performances, be sure to leave the Grand Royale London Hyde Park early.

The journey from the hotel to Trafalgar Square takes just under half an hour using the Tube, meaning you can easily arrive before performances start to stake out a prime position.

Pride in London, 27th June 2020

Join thousands of revellers to celebrate the diversity of the LGBT+ community at this colourful and fully inclusive event in the heart of the city.

While Trafalgar Square is traditionally transformed into a hub of activity for the event, there are also several other smaller celebrations taking place across London.

The highlight of the Pride event is undoubtedly the pride parade, with over 300 decorated floats travelling through the city flanked by singing and dancing.

Once the parade draws to a close, the party vibe continues in Soho late into the evening with a series of parties and special events to mark the occasion. Be sure to pop into Cardinal Place shopping centre to grab yourself some new threads before you head off to dance until dawn.

 

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship, 29th June – 12th July 2020

Tennis fans will be flocking to the Grand Royale London Hyde Park once again in July for the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships.
