London is famous for its dedication to the arts. Whether you’re a collector, tourist or are yourself an artist, London offers up a diverse catalogue of exhibitions, talks and workshops. With some of the best art schools in the world scattered throughout the city, it’s no wonder that the Masterpiece Art Fair has made its home in the British capital.

This internationally renowned fair takes over the Royal Hospital Chelsea from the 27th of June to the 3rd of July and invites collectors, visitors and artists from all across the world to bask in some of the best of contemporary and classical artworks.

Based in West London’s affluent Chelsea area, the idyllic Royal Hospital Chelsea is a British veteran retirement home and public park ground spanning a stunning 66 acres. It is throughout these grounds and the building itself that art collectors from all across the world will be exhibiting their collections.

Best of all, it’s in close proximity to a range of 4 star hotels in Bayswater London. Talk about easy access.

What’s in the collection?

The main collections of the Masterpiece Art Fair boast a wide range of contemporary, fine, and historical artworks, all coming together to create a mosaic of creativity throughout the ages. It’s not just art being exhibited at the fair; many collectors also show off their wide array of antiques and vintage design ingenuity.

Getting there

If you are planning to attend the Masterpiece Art Fair, you’re best off finding accommodation in the West London area. Whilst Sloane Square tube station is an 8-minute walk away from the Royal Hospital Chelsea and serves the District and Circle Line, hotels such as the Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel offer up great deals on their rooms and are just a short walk away.

Exhibitors

From the famous to the hidden gems, art collectors and dealers from all around the world flock to the Masterpiece Art Fair. This year will see hundreds of collectors mingle at the art fair, bringing the likes of Connaught Brown, a leading collector of French and post-impressionists, alongside modern and contemporary artworks. To juxtapose the modern focus of exhibitors like Blain Southern, antique jewellery will be showcased by the likes of Veronique Bamps.

Talks and lectures

Masterpiece Art Fair doesn’t just showcase art, we invite people to talk about it too. With a uniquely curated calendar of talks, workshops and Q&A’s, Masterpiece is a leading light in art collecting, whilst also pushing the boundaries of the art business world. The programme of talks, lectures and workshops will be announced in late spring/early summer.

Masterpiece Presents

Masterpiece Presents is a platform for some of the most exciting artists and collectors working today. This year sees a collaboration between Factum Arte and Lisson Gallery with famous contemporary artist Marina Abramovic, who will be showcasing her performance art and sculpture work, the Five Stages of Maya Dance.

Masterpiece Awards

The Masterpiece Awards are awarded to the outstanding displays and collection highlights of the fair, giving often little known collectors a platform on which to sell their works. With a diverse judging panel made up of art experts and entrepreneurs, the Masterpiece Awards hold high esteem in the art world.

Opening times

The Art Fair is a ticketed event and is therefore open to the public throughout the working day and in the evenings. If you are planning on visiting, the fair is open every day from 11am till 9pm. From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th of June however, fair closes at 7 PM.
