Where To Go To Hunt For Antiques During Your Grand Royale London Stay

London is a shopper’s paradise, and millions of visitors flock to the city every year to enjoy some of the best retail therapy in the world. Kensington and Chelsea, in particular, are fantastic shopping destinations – especially if you’re hunting for antiques.

Located just a short stroll away from our Hotels Near Hyde Park London, Kensington and Chelsea are real hotspots for antique hunters. The King’s Road in Chelsea is lined with stories owned by famous antiques dealers and experts. You could easily spend hours getting lost in the veritable treasure troves of furniture, jewellery, art and fabrics in this famous area.

Let’s take a look at some of the best antique dealers and shops you can visit during your stay at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park.

Bourbon-Hanby Arcade

151 Sydney St, Chelsea, London SW3 6NT

Bourbon-Hanby Arcade is a Chelsea institution. It originally opened at the Chelsea Antiques Market in 1976, until it moved to the corner of Sydney Street and the King’s Road in 1997. Owned and operated by national antiques expert, Ian Towning, this arcade is a prime destination for those looking for something special.

You may recognise Mr Towning from his appearances on Dickinson’s Real Deal (ITV) and Posh Pawn (Channel 4). Mr Towning also offers jewellery repair, investment consultancy and valuation services, making this a one-stop shop for all your antiques desires.

Furniture and Arts Building (formerly Furniture Cave)

533 King’s Road, Chelsea, London, SW10 0TZ

The Furniture and Arts Building (FAB) is home to more than twenty dealers, offering a range of different antiques. You’ll find everything from jewellery and paintings to ceramics and silver here, and additional services include furniture restoration, import and export trading and valuations. Whether you’re looking for a special, one-off piece to add to your home, or whether you’re a private buyer hoping to expand your own collection, this three-floor emporium is a must-see.

Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market

The antiques market at Portobello Road is said to be the largest in the world, with no less than 1,000 dealers purveying all sorts of collectibles and antiques. The antiques market takes place every Friday and Saturday, and it attracts thousands of visitors every weekend – it’s advised to arrive quite early to ensure you can browse without the crowds.

If you’re taking the underground to the market, get off at Ladbroke Grove. This station is on the Hammersmith & City line, just a short walk away from Grand Royale London Hyde Park.
