When it comes to contemporary art, nowhere is more iconic than the Tate gallery. While it may sound as though it only occupies one space, the Tate gallery actually refers to a collection of four museums, with two, Tate Britain and Tate Modern, being in London.

Whilst you’re visiting the city there is always so much going on here so it would be a crime to not pay this institution in art a visit.

Photographing Obama: An evening with Pete Souza

Join in on this fascinating talk with Pete Souza, who was the Chief White House Photographer when Barack Obama was in office. Throughout his career he captured historic meetings with world leaders and cultural figures, as well as some more intimate family moments with the President’s family during their time at the White House. During the talk, Souza will refer to his new book, Obama: An Intimate Portrait, as well as giving the audience an opportunity to ask questions. Great for anyone with a keen interest in politics.

14, 15, 16, 17 December, 12-6pm

A real eye-opener, this multimedia and multi-sensory programme is a chance for you to learn about and explore the creativity of the queer, trans and non-binary black community. Join in on a number of discussions about issues and works affecting these groups or sit back in a barber chair and listen to some interactive sound pieces. Whilst there also be sure to pay a visit to The Server, a fascinating digital installation that highlights the importance of the digital age and how it has helped these communities.

30 Minutes on William Stott

Every Monday, Wednesday at 13.15–13.45 until 31st December

During this guided talk see and learn about the work of William Stott, a painter from Lancashire whose work incorporates landscapes as well as classical figures and allegorical themes. Take your time to marvel at the work of this iconic artist and feel free to ask questions. This tour is also available with a hearing loop.

Once you’ve satisfied your art appetite, head back to your room at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park for an evening of relaxation.
