Spending A Morning At Stamford Bridge

London boasts a plethora of fantastic sports venues, from the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground to the home of tennis, Wimbledon. Sometimes it can feel as though you’re never more than a stone’s throw away from a famous sporting stadium or arena when you’re wandering the capital!

Fortunately for guests at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel, we are located just twenty minutes away from one of the Premier League’s most famous stadiums – Stamford Bridge. The home of current Premier League winners, Chelsea FC, Stamford Bridge is an icon of the local area, and one of the best places in the neighbourhood to spend a morning – especially if you’re a sports fan.

Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour

If you’re staying at our hotel in Bayswater, a tour of Stamford Bridge is not to be missed. This hour-long tour gives you a behind-the-scenes look at life at one of the world’s most famous and successful football clubs. You’ll explore the home and away dressing rooms and the various stands around the stadium, including the Matthew Harding Stand. You’ll also get to walk through the tunnel, as players do before every game, emerging onto the famous pitch as if you were Frank Lampard himself.

The Stamford Bridge Museum

Buying a ticket to the stadium tour also gives you access to the fantastic Chelsea FC Museum. Exploring the museum gives visitors a wonderful overview of the history of the club, from the founding of the club in 1905, to the amazing success the club has enjoyed over the last twenty years – including a Champions League trophy. The Stamford Bridge Museum is the largest football museum in London, dwarfing those at Arsenal and even Wembley.

Stamford and Bridget Tour

Keeping children entertained is paramount for families when visiting London and Stamford Bridge offers a unique experience for the little ones. Stamford and Bridget are the club’s two mascots, and they occasionally run special tours of the ground just for children. The next Stamford and Bridget tour takes place on the 15th February 2018, and will allow children entrance into the dressing rooms, the press room, the player’s tunnel and more. Every child on the tour will also receive a Chelsea FC gift.

Attending A Game at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea play in Premier League fixtures at Stamford Bridge on average once every two weeks, with occasional midweek games in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Tickets are available in advance, and our staff at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel would be more than happy to help you source some. See the footballing superstars Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas in real life, and cheer on Antonio Conte’s men as they attempt to defend their Premier League title for the first time.

Frankie’s Restaurant

If you’re feeling peckish after exploring the football ground, visit Frankie’s Restaurant for light refreshments. This eatery is a joint venture between jockey Frankie Detorri (hence the name) and the famous chef, Marco Pierre White. You’ll find a menu packed with Italian classics, and most sporting events are televised – so you’ll never miss a kick, even if you’re not attending the game.
