Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park will bring an outstanding line-up of acts to one of London’s most famous open spaces, on Sunday, September 8.
Topping the bill this year is legendary singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson, who both as a solo artist and as part of the group Smokey Robinson and The Miracles has earned worldwide acclaim during a career spanning decades. His hits include Being With You, Tracks of My Tears, I Second That Emotion and Shop Around.
Also taking to the stage are Simple Minds, whose hits include Don’t You Forget About Me and Alive and Kicking, and who have performed sell-out stadium shows around the world since the 1980s. Another Scottish band, Texas will also perform their hits, which include Black Eyed Boy and I Don’t Want A Lover. Welsh rockers, Manic Street Preachers will also be appearing at Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park.
There will be a number of solo artists performing. Jamie Cullum will be entertaining the audience, while double-platinum singer-songwriter Josh Groban, who has had great success both as an actor and a musician, will also be on stage, as will Jack Johnson, known for hits including Better Together and Upside Down. Look out too for Brit Award winner and former army officer James Blunt, who has recorded smash hits such as You’re Beautiful and 1973.
Last year saw nearly 30,000 people flock to Hyde Park to see acts including Tom Jones, Jessie J, Status Quo, Paloma Faith and Emeli Sande. This year, for the first time, there will be two stages. In addition to the main stage there will be a BBC Introducing Stage where up and coming talent will perform.
