FAMILY EVENTS FOR THE EASTER WEEKEND

Easter can be a tricky time of year to go on holiday. Falling in the sporadic and temperamental spring of the UK and slightly less of a cultural occasion than christmas, you may feel like it’s merely another weekend in London. This couldn‘t be further from the truth though, with the bank holiday weekend of Easter weekend offering up a wide range of special events and temporary attractions, you might find yourself experiencing a new side of London when staying at the Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel.

One problem facing family jet setters in London is that all too often, it can be difficult to find events and attractions to accommodate for all ages. Below are some of our favourite events for families which will keep you and your loved ones entertained during the 19th to 22nd of April, and even beyond!

This year, the English National Ballet are opening up their performances not just to dance experts and fanatics, but to whole families too. Whether you’re young or old, if you haven’t seen a ballet show before, Easter Weekend is the time to get involved, bringing the ballet version of Sleeping Beauty to the Peacock Theatre near Holborn. This accessible show is full to the brim with magic and light, ensuring that all ages can follow the well known story.

Tabby McTat and family friendly shows at the Southbank Centre

If you and your kids are fans of children’s books, then this stage musical adaptation of the famous Julia Donaldson storybook is gracing the stage of the Southbank Centre. Playing from the 6th till the 13th of April, Tabby McTat is just one of the many events taking place in the Southbank Centre throughout April. With a wide range of interactive workshops and colourful performances, the Southbank Centre is opening itself up to family audiences. If the alien travelling band and kaleidoscope making all get a bit too much, then adults can enjoy the Easter weekend inKERBator street food stalls set up around the South Bank.

Horniman Museum Easter weekend

Over the Easter weekend, the Dulwich based Horniman Museum is holding some of the best family events in the city. Not only can you see amazing exhibits such as the LEGO based Brick Wonders, but you can enjoy easter egg hunts and food markets all across the grounds of the Horniman Museum. Whatever your needs, there’s plenty to keep you busy in this unique, gaudily built museum.

If you’re looking for things to do near Buckingham Palace Somerset House is another magnificent building based in the city centre. Every year, they just Now Play This, a celebration of video games which this year introduces all ages to over 50 innovative games.
