It’s been on our television screens for several years now, but next year’s will be the last series of popular show dancing on Ice, ITV has confirmed.
Skating fans will get one last chance to see celebrities performing sensational skating routines with top choreography and lots of surprises, when the final series begins in January 2014.
The series will be followed by the final Dancing on Ice tour – a spectacular live show, that will perform across the UK, starting in March 2014. The tour will star Olympic gold medal winners Torvill and Dean, who will be joined by a host of celebrity skaters from the ITV show.
Announcing the news, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said: “Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Bolero and our Olympic gold medal in Sarajevo, and for us, it seemed a fitting time to say goodbye to Dancing on Ice. We wanted to go out on a high.
“We have loved every minute of the eight series and we’re determined to make our final series the best ever.”
They added: “We will not be retiring or hanging up our skates just yet. We can’t wait to be back on the road and we’re already planning the show. It will be the biggest and best tour we’ve done to date and there will be some great surprises for the audiences across the country – we hope you will come and see us.”
