Bayswater has many shopping options. Whether you’re looking for new season fashions, jewellery, a piece of furniture, a replacement suitcase, a new kettle or ingredients for you evening meal, you’re sure to find what you need.
One of the area’s most famous shopping destinations is Whiteleys shopping centre. Originally a department store – London’s first, today Whiteleys is home to a number of shops, banks and restaurants, as well as a cinema. There are branches of Marks and Spencer, H&M, Gap, Toys R Us and Zara among the stores located within the mall.
Queensway is one of the area’s busiest streets. It features a wide range of stores, including supermarkets, clothing and shoe stores, and shops selling souvenirs and luggage, plus restaurants and cafes serving international cuisine. There are two tube stations along Queensway: Bayswater (District and Circle lines) and Queensway (Central Line), so it is an easy place for shoppers to get to. Queensway also features a bowling alley and ice skating rink.
Westbourne Grove, another of Bayswater’s main streets, offers a good mix of stores including furniture, fashion, food and hardware, as well as restaurants and cafes.
There are several other shopping options within a short distance of Bayswater. Portobello Road, one of London’s most famous markets, is within walking distance of Bayswater, as are the independent boutiques of Notting Hill. Other shopping areas near Bayswater include Oxford Street and Edgware Road. Westfield London shopping centre is a short tube journey from Queensway station, at Shepherds Bush.
